Cath Connelly – Celtic Harpist

Cath has been sharing and teaching the art of the Celtic harp for many years. She has developed an extensive repertoire of harp music from Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Very much in tune with the origins of this delightful instrument, Cath’s repertoire includes songs from the beginnings of Celtic musical expression to more modern compositions. She has composed contemporary arrangements for many well-known songs, as well as creating many of her own melodies.

Cath has been playing the Celtic harp professionally since 1998. She is very much in demand for weddings, concerts, conferences and workshops throughout Australia. To complement her music, Cath’s performances often include stories, in true Celtic fashion, describing Celtic traditions, music and folklore.

In 2004 Cath released her first album,
Song Line, Thin Place. This CD - in collaboration with Greg Hunt on fiddle and mandolin - is a hauntingly beautiful collection of traditional and original Celtic arrangements.

In 2006 the duo re-named themselves Liminality, and in March 2007 released their second album, Invocation.  Cath and Greg are agreed that this latest CD has taken their collaboration to another level - even more sublime and mature than the last one !

When not performing, composing or teaching the Celtic harp, Cath leads workshops and seminars on spirituality.  She also spends her spare time working on her Master of Arts (Spirituality) Degree through the Melbourne College of Divinity, walking her two Golden Retriever dogs in Melbourne's Dandenong Ranges, or playing in the vegetable garden at her home on the outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria.
