When Cath is not recording or performing on her
one of her Celtic harps, she is immersing herself in the
fascinating and diverse world of spirituality.
Cath facilitates workshops and retreats in creative
spirituality.
These can be tailored according to the wishes of the participants -
secular or non-secular, in all their combinations ! Combining
her love of both Celtic harp and spirituality, Cath's topics
include :
- Celtic Spirituality (introduction & survey)
- Celtic Spirituality (in-depth)
- Earth, Wind, Fire, Water
- Ecospirituality
- Creative Spirituality
- Relaxation & Meditation
- life & spirituality of Hildegaard von Bingen
Of course, the harp often becomes an integral
part of these workshops !
Because of her love of gardening (which is
afterall just another form of spirituality, yes?), Cath also runs a
short course entitled "Backyard Banquet". Participants learn
about the cultivation of all things edible, techniques for
composting, pet-proofing your plants, and the joy of sinking your
fingers into the earth ! Large or small, plot of ground or
plants in pots -everyone can bring food from their garden to their
dinnerplate.
Cath has run short courses, workshops and
retreats at these venues in and around Melbourne :
- Kilbride Spirituality Centre
- Kildara Centre, Melbourne
- Kallista & Coonara Community Houses, Dandenong Ranges
- "Soulscapes", Richmond Uniting Church
- Australian Network of Spiritual Directors - 2004 conference,
Geelong Conference Centre
- Pallotti College, Millgrove (Yarra Valley)
- Augustine Centre
- Kilbreeda College, Mentone
Cath is also currently in the "writing-up" stage
of her Master of Arts thesis in Spirituality. She is enrolled
through the Melbourne College of Divinity, exploring the figure of
Brigid and her representations as Celtic Saint and as Goddess. Cath
finds herself dwelling within a "Christian" spiritual context
whilst simultaneously engaging with various creative "secular"
spiritualities, as a result of her thesis research.
